You’ll find Grouper Island west of the Mokohinau island. This is an awesome spot for Hapuka and Kingfish.
The NE of Motuora is a great spot to grab a Snapper. Also keep an eye out for work up in the area.
Target Bream Rock with your jig set as kingfish and large snapper are around.
Pudney Rock is a great spot to find snapper and kingfish. Tarakihi are often found here too. Take your speed jigging gear and try jigging over the pin on high tide.
Just out from Urupukapuka Island great place to catch snapper and kingfish. Softbait has produced good size snapper and livebait has often resulted in kingfish.
The Colville Channel out at the 50m mark is great for good-sized snapper. Make sure to look out for work-ups.
Most boaties drive straight past the Whangaparaoa Peninsula to go to Tiritiri Matangi Island. They often skip this spot and as a result we’ve done very well here in the past.
We’ve heard about some great results coming from the Browns Bay area. Both cut and soft baits have been very productive in the 4-7 metre mark.
Kawau Island is a personal favourite to get crayfish. You can also strayline big bits of cut bait and see good results.
Mercury Island has been known to produce big snapper and kingfish. Softbait and cut bait are sure to get you some dinner.
